This book review is reprinted from Volume 100 Number 1 Spring 2007 edition of American Journal of Homeopathic Medicine with permission of the American Institute of Homeopathy The Complete Homeopathic Resource for Common Illnesses North Atlantic Books (Berkeley, California) Reviewed by George Guess, MD, DHt Dr. Chernin has penned a very useful book for laypersons interested in pursuing self and family homeopathic treatment of acute illnesses/conditions. It is a rather large book and what distinguishes if from other homeopathic self-care books on the market are the number of illnesses covered and the number of remedy possibilities described under each heading; both are considerably more extensive that anything I have come across in print to date. All remedy entries are fairly succinct and generally adequate to guide the reader to their appropriate use. Then there is the other key feature that is unique to this product, one which should serve its user very well indeed - an interactive CD which contains a small repertory (with associated reportorial analysis program), materia medica (of 105 remedies), and an introduction to basic homeopathic concepts. The book is attractively and sturdily bound, with easily read typeface. Unfortunately, there is no index. The Complete Homeopathic Resource for Common Illnesses a superior book for laypersons interested in self and family treatment. Homeopathic practitioners can recommend it to their patients and public with confidence. |
