Hello,
I was wondering what your perspective is on taking intercurrent remedies. I was given a remedy that stopped working after a while. I was then given a miasmatic remedy to clear anything that was blocking a cure. How long do I wait after taking this remedy? I noticed a slight improvement. Should I leave it alone? Or go back to taking the original remedy?
Also, how much do you think drinking coffee can interfere with curative effect of a remedy?
Thank you in advance for your reply.

Hello
I realise that you posted this on Dr Luc's forum but he has not responded so here goes. I think the important word is "I was given" which means you should ask your prescriber this question, she or he, with your cooperation, should try and establish if the remedies had an effect and need or need to be repeated or changed.
Coffee is often listed as an antidote to remedies. This is also an individual thing. Some people hold their coffee better than otheres. I think it has a bad effect on remedies but if we always found the perfect remedy then it would not have such a bad effect in moderation. I recall someone taking Arnica after Major dental work. Feeling better she drank coffee and went back into shock. I recall someone drinking coffee on holiday in paris, feeling weird for a day and then remedy carried on working. And another timid patient did not have the courage to refuse hospitality and drak the coffee, she had been well but relapesd and I retook the case and changed the remedy.
OK?

Dear friend!
From Australia where I teach!
Much about use of acute intercurrent is written in my book Achieving and maintaining the simillimum. To answer to this in a nutshell.
IF there was a miasmatic block and you have used a nosode (Potency? Dose? Dry?) and IF you use the 5th edition split method then you can repeat this on the tested interval (A246 6th edition), repeating every other day or every day TILL YOU SEE a remedy picture appearing (either the previous remedy OR a new one). In other words you must after each dose of the nosode see if a remedy picture (previous or new one) appears and if it does, it ALWAYS has priority over the nosode! A nosode (Chronic intercurrent) will not cure, it must be followed by a remedy simillimum. Another word of caution. Often the homeopath thinks that there is a miasmatic block but one should always think first if the DOSE and potency need adjustment. Using the watery method of 5th and 6th it is much easier to adjust. So sometimes it is not a miasmatic block and an adjustment of dose/potency is needed, not an intercurrent.
regarding coffee: read the article of Hahneman in his lesser writings about coffee. It is a drug mainly. But if people drink one or two cups I never have seen it stop thev action of the remedy! An exception: forbid coffee when it is a black type remedy the patient needs and that remedy is black type under "coffee aggravates (generalities)"
Greetings from warm Australia where I teach
